Everyday Servant’s weekly links to great posts…

This week links to Jon Acuff, Ann Voskamp, Ed Stetzer, and C.S. Lewis

1. Do you Love Jesus?

What tugs at your heart about Christianity?

What do you love?

Who do you love?

My friends’ pastor recently told them he thinks it’s hard for American men to say they love God…Love Jesus…

Maybe he’s right…

Sometimes it’s easier for me to fall in love with the things I think I do for Christ or the rules I try to follow than with Jesus himself…

I forget that love and love alone saved me…saved all of us…gave us grace…

And that my heart is what God wants most…

If you have ever found it hard to love Jesus…read this post from Ann Voskamp…

2. Jon Acuff Lied. How about you?

Jon Acuff told a lie…

Then He confessed.

It’s a pretty common lie…

A lie I’ve told many times…

I’ve even told this lie in church.

To quote Jon Acuff, “I’m lying, how about you?”

Before you reply, read Jon’s post from Acuff.me and then give an honest answer….

3. Humorous church signs

Oh, those beloved church signs…

Sometimes they say exactly what their authors intended…

Sometimes not so much.

Ed Stetzer shares three humorous church signs

Read his post and decide for yourself on the spectrum of intended or unintended humor…

4. Modern Bible translations-good or bad?

Want to start an argument with a fellow Christian?

Just challenge their favorite translation of the Bible…

Tell them about a new translation you are reading…

Perhaps not surprising when you consider the Bible’s centrality to the Christian life…

How should we react to the very concept of Bible translations?

Should we reject all translations after the Authorized King James?

Is even that translation flawed?

Should we revert to Latin?

C.S. Lewis wrote about that very question…

Read Lewis’ thoughts in this post on Paul Wilkinson’s blog…
