I think you may have missed the point ever so slightly. Yes, these are good verses about pursuing happiness, but go deeper. Instead of “happiness” try “blessing”. I realize that these words are not 100% interchangeable, but in this context I think it is appropriate. So now we have the pursuit of blessing. For this I would also go to Matthew chapter 6, but a few verses later in 33: “But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.” I think all the verses you have referenced would then fall under this verse and make more sense. If you seek happiness, then pursue God’s blessings. Pursue God’s blessings by first knowing and then doing the will of God. It is not a big change, but it is a slightly different perspective. And I think it is an important one.
Excellent point… I totally agrees with what you are saying. So often we think of happiness in worldly terms. God clearly tells us that true happiness is spiritual, and comes only from seeking His kingdom and delighting ourselves in Him. Blessing is indeed what we receive in that context, because it is a free gift of God, born of His love and flowing through His grace.
