How Should We Pray-6 Prayers From The Bible

How Should We Pray-6 Prayers From The Bible …

Ever wonder…

How should we pray-6 Prayers from the Bible

“How should we pray?”

“Who should we pray for?”

“What words should we use?”

Check out these six prayers from the Bible…

Five of them Jesus’ own personal prayers…

Is it OK to pray for ourselves?

How did Jesus pray for himself?

…“Father, the hour has come. Glorify your Son, that your Son may glorify you.  John 17:1

Should we pray for our friends?

How did Jesus pray for his friends and disciples?

…Holy Father, protect them by the power of your name, the name you gave me, so that they may be one as we are one. While I was with them, I protected them and kept them safe by that name you gave me…John 17:11-12

Should pray for other believers?

Did Jesus pray for them?

“… I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, 21 that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me.  John 17:20-21

Should we pray for our enemies?

What did Jesus say?

But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you…  Matthew 5:44

But how do we pray for our enemies?

What words do we say?

How did Jesus pray for His enemies?

What words did He use?

On the cross…

With death imminent…

With his enemies in sight…

With the option for revenge His for the asking…

He prayed…

… “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.”  Luke 23:34

Still not sure how we should pray?

Neither were the disciples…

So they asked Jesus…

Millions of words have been written about Jesus’ answer.

But the only words that really matter are the 66 words of the prayer He taught them…

Our Father in heaven,
Hallowed be Your name.
Your kingdom come.
Your will be done
On earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our debts,
As we forgive our debtors.
And do not lead us into temptation,
But deliver us from the evil one.
For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen   Mathew 6:9-13

And so we pray…

And we wait…

Wait in faith for the return of Him who says…

…“Yes, I am coming soon.”

In prayer, we say…

Amen. Come, Lord Jesus. The grace of the Lord Jesus be with God’s people. Amen.  Revelation 22:20-21
