Christian Devotional-Stories and Bible verses about the presence of God in our lives

Language of Love

Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I have become sounding brass or a clanging cymbal.  1 Corinthians 13:1

There it was in the mall….

A sign that read…

language of love

“…enjoy are signature coffee…”

Could they possibly mean “our” coffee?

Mistakes happen, I thought…

They’ll change it by tomorrow…

But the sign was the same the next day…

And the next day…

And the next…

“…enjoy are signature coffee…”

Every time I saw the sign, I got more upset…

Should I say something to the people in the store?

What would I say?

How about…

“You’ve made a mistake on your sign.”

Maybe I should be a little more direct…

“Don’t you know the difference between ‘are’ and ‘our?'”

I never delivered either of those messages, because neither one would have been spoken in the only language that matters to God…

The language of God’s heart.

The language of love…

Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. 1 Corinthians 13:4-7

I was ready to get upset with someone because of the way they used a word…

What a different example our God sets for us…

How does He react when we totally misuse His language by speaking words of discord rather than love?

He reacts by giving us the greatest gift of love the world has ever seen…

The gift of His grace…

But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ— by grace you have been saved …Ephesians 2:4-5
