Rejoice in the LORD

Rejoice in the Lord

“I’m worried…”

She as she stirs her coffee…

Rejoice in the LORD

“Maybe I’m doing something wrong.”

“Am I failing God?”

”Worry that I’m putting myself first instead of putting Him first…”

The words are unexpected…

Coming from someone who spends so much time helping family and friends…

Who volunteers so often to aid others…

“What do you mean?” her friend asks.

“I just started a new volunteer role…”

“I really Like it.”

“It’s not just the idea that I’m helping others…”

“Not just the thought that I’m serving God…. “

I really enjoy the people and the tasks.

It’s fun!

I know we’re supposed to  love God and love people…

Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ Matthew 22:37-40

I know it’s our obligation to serve God.

I know it’s our duty….

Only fear the Lord and serve him faithfully with all your heart. For consider what great things he has done for you. 1 Samuel 12:24

But is it OK to have fun while we’re serving God?

Serve the Lord with gladness! Come into his presence with singing!  Psalm 100:2

I feel like a little kid going out to play every time I volunteer.

Shouldn’t I be more serious…

Shouldn’t I be more grown up when I serve God?

He called a little child to him, and placed the child among them. And he said: “Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.  Therefore, whoever takes the lowly position of this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.  Matthew 18:2-4

Everyday people…

Serving God every day…

Serving Him with wonder and Joy…

Remembering the Bile tells us to rejoice in the Lord …

Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth!  Psalm 100:1

Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, Rejoice.  Philippians 4:4

Rejoice always,  1 Thessalonians 5:16

This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.  Psalm 118:24
