Christian Devotional-Stories and Bible verses about the presence of God in our lives

Rejoice in the Lord

“I’m worried…”

She stirs her coffee…

Rejoice in the LORD

“Maybe I’m doing something wrong.”

“Maybe I’m failing God…”

”I Worry that I’m putting myself first instead of putting Him first…”

The words are unexpected…

Coming from someone who spends so much time helping family and friends…

Who volunteers so often to help others…

“What do you mean?” her friend asks.

“I just started a new volunteer role…”

“I really Like it.”

“It’s fun!”

“So maybe if I like it, I’m doing it for myself instead of others…”

“I mean, am I really supposed to have fun when I serve God?”

“I know it’s my obligation to serve God…”

“It’s my duty….”

Only fear the Lord and serve him faithfully with all your heart. For consider what great things he has done for you. 1 Samuel 12:24

“But is it OK to have fun while I’m serving God?”

“I feel like a little kid going out to play every time I volunteer.”

“Shouldn’t I be more grown up when I serve God?”

“Shouldn’t I be more serious?”

Her friend smiled…

“I think,” she said…

“There are a few Bible verses about that….”

Psalm 100:2

Serve the Lord with gladness! Come into his presence with singing!

Matthew 18:2-4

He called a little child to him, and placed the child among them. And he said: “Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.  Therefore, whoever takes the lowly position of this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven

Psalm 100:1-5

A Psalm for giving thanks. Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth! Serve the Lord with gladness! Come into his presence with singing! Know that the Lord, he is God! It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture. Enter his gates with thanksgiving, and his courts with praise! Give thanks to him; bless his name! For the Lord is good; his steadfast love endures forever, and his faithfulness to all generations.

Philippians 4:4

Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, Rejoice.

1 Thessalonians 5:16

Rejoice always,

Psalm 118:24

This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.
