29 Bible Verses–How to Thank God in Tough Times …
Pulling weeds…
On his hands and knees…
weeding along the lot line with his neighbor.
A simple job…
Not one he thought would lead to a life-changing event.
In fact, he’s already thinking about what he will do next.
His neighbor’s dog barks!
And runs toward him.
The dog is friendly…
So he looks up expecting to see
A wagging tale…
And a dog waiting to be petted.
But when he looks up …
He is nose to nose with the dog…
The dog growls…
They both freeze for a moment.
And then, suddenly…
The dog bites his face…
He yells…
The dog’s owner comes running.
An ambulance is called.
The bite is serious…
There are many surgeries…
But the scar remains.
And so do his memories…
He thinks about the day constantly.
And every time he does…
He gets angry…
Angry with the dog…
Angry with the dog’s owner…
And angry with God.
His thoughts consumed by his troubles…
He becomes an bitter man.
With…he thinks…nothing for which to be thankful.
Who can blame him?
How can we thank God when we are hurting?
Does it depend on where we are focused?
On our difficulties?
Or on the God who offers us hope beyond them?
And if we are focused on God …
How can we be anything but grateful?
Grateful for the certain hope of His love…
And His grace…
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16
