5 Top Bible Verses-Seeing Others As God Sees Them…
And the everyday story that God used to lead me to them…
(Note: Verses are included in the story and also listed separately at the end)
I left early enough…
Really I did!
But traffic is heavy…
And now…
I may be late.
As I move into the left lane…
Another car pulls in front of me…
Barely going 15 miles per hour…
In a 45 MPH zone!
What does that sign say?
“Road Work Ahead”
A backhoe pulls onto the road…
Lights flashing…
Warning horn blasting on and off…
Barely going 5 miles an hour!
Did I mention I might be late?
Finally, we reach the intersection…
The backhoe goes another direction…
But…
“Mr. 15-Miles-an-Hour” goes all the way to my destination…
Where he turns off the road…
And stops.
Peering through his front windshield…
Reading direction signs.
Finally he pulls slowly forward…
It is no longer a question of whether I will be late…
I am late!
Walking into the office…
Toward the receptionist…
Out of breath…
I start to explain…
“Sorry I’m late…”
The receptionist holds up her hand…
Motions for me to stop…
She’s talking with two people at her desk…
Their voices are low…
Is one of them crying?
“Here’s the number for radiology,” the receptionist says…
“It’s an easy test…
And they’ll send the results to your doctor right away…”
Did I mention I was going to the doctor’s office?
My visit? A routine checkup.
The people in front of me are obviously dealing with something much more important…
I wait…
And think about my trip here…
About the 15-Mile-An-Hour-Driver
About the construction worker driving the backhoe…
And about the people at the desk…
I realize…
I have seen them only as obstacles to my goals…
While God sees them as
His creation…
For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. Psalm 139:13
His children…
But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God, John 1:12
I was quick to call out what I thought were their faults…
While being totally blind to my own…
Why do you see the speck that is in your brother’s eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye? Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when there is the log in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother’s eye. Matthew 7:3-5
I looked at the world from my own perspective…
Through my own eyes…
Ignoring God’s invitation to see the world from His perspective…
Through his eyes…
…For the Lord sees not as man sees: man looks on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart.” 1 Samuel 16:7
And then I realized…
All I could do was thank Him that He looks at all of us…
Even undeserving me…
In that same way…
And with that same grace…
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. John 3:16-17

Psalms 100:4,103:12, this is amazing once see it’s truth given
One stands in belief, Father removes the log, then speaks through us to others, removing their specks to see their log to be removed by God alone
Thank you Bob for being a willing servant
Thanks for being such a faithful reader and commenter, Howard!
What a lovely post about God’s perspective and how He chooses. I needed to read this today. Thank you!
