Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men,
The soul of the sluggard craves and gets nothing, while the soul of the diligent is richly supplied.
For even when we were with you, we would give you this command: If anyone is not willing to work, let him not eat. For we hear that some among you walk in idleness, not busy at work, but busybodies. Now such persons we command and encourage in the Lord Jesus Christ to do their work quietly and to earn their own living.
I can do all things through him who strengthens me.
In all toil there is profit, but mere talk tends only to poverty.
Do all things without grumbling or questioning, that you may be blameless and innocent, children of God without blemish in the midst of a crooked and twisted generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world,
So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.
And to aspire to live quietly, and to mind your own affairs, and to work with your hands, as we instructed you, so that you may walk properly before outsiders and be dependent on no one.
Knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ.
The hand of the diligent will rule, while the slothful will be put to forced labor.
And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.
Rendering service with a good will as to the Lord and not to man,
Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with your might, for there is no work or thought or knowledge or wisdom in Sheol, to which you are going.
Go to the ant, O sluggard; consider her ways, and be wise. Without having any chief, officer, or ruler, she prepares her bread in summer and gathers her food in harvest.
For nothing will be impossible with God.”
For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.
But if anyone does not provide for his relatives, and especially for members of his household, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.
A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to rest, and poverty will come upon you like a robber, and want like an armed man. A worthless person, a wicked man, goes about with crooked speech,
It is the hard-working farmer who ought to have the first share of the crops.
The Lord God took the man and put him in the garden of Eden to work it and keep it.
Show yourself in all respects to be a model of good works, and in your teaching show integrity, dignity, and sound speech that cannot be condemned, so that an opponent may be put to shame, having nothing evil to say about us.
Whoever works his land will have plenty of bread, but he who follows worthless pursuits lacks sense.
Commit your work to the Lord, and your plans will be established.
Let the thief no longer steal, but rather let him labor, doing honest work with his own hands, so that he may have something to share with anyone in need.
Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, making the best use of the time, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is.

And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.
Do not be slothful in zeal, be fervent in spirit, serve the Lord.

Long ago, at many times and in many ways, God spoke to our fathers by the prophets, but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed the heir of all things, through whom also he created the world. He is the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of his nature, and he upholds the universe by the word of his power. After making purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high, having become as much superior to angels as the name he has inherited is more excellent than theirs. For to which of the angels did God ever say, “You are my Son, today I have begotten you”? Or again, “I will be to him a father, and he shall be to me a son”?
For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.
So we built the wall. And all the wall was joined together to half its height, for the people had a mind to work.
You and the people with you will certainly wear yourselves out, for the thing is too heavy for you. You are not able to do it alone. Now obey my voice; I will give you advice, and God be with you! You shall represent the people before God and bring their cases to God, and you shall warn them about the statutes and the laws, and make them know the way in which they must walk and what they must do. Moreover, look for able men from all the people, men who fear God, who are trustworthy and hate a bribe, and place such men over the people as chiefs of thousands, of hundreds, of fifties, and of tens. And let them judge the people at all times. Every great matter they shall bring to you, but any small matter they shall decide themselves. So it will be easier for you, and they will bear the burden with you.
When no bush of the field was yet in the land and no small plant of the field had yet sprung up—for the Lord God had not caused it to rain on the land, and there was no man to work the ground,
But the one who did not know, and did what deserved a beating, will receive a light beating. Everyone to whom much was given, of him much will be required, and from him to whom they entrusted much, they will demand the more.
No weapon that is fashioned against you shall succeed, and you shall confute every tongue that rises against you in judgment. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord and their vindication from me, declares the Lord.”
A just balance and scales are the Lord’s; all the weights in the bag are his work.

You shall eat the fruit of the labor of your hands; you shall be blessed, and it shall be well with you.
But they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.

Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him, and he will act.

God wants us to work because He needs a channel through which He will send His provision to us. And He wants us to be disciplined and molded into better persons that only work can do.
