“I will never do that again!” he shouted…
His face was red…
His eyes open so wide they looked like they might pop out of his head…
“Never, never, never ask me to eat in the same restaurant with the technical crew!”
“Do you know who I am?”
I did indeed. He was a star.
His was a face and voice known by millions on radio and television…
I thought about asking how famous he would be without the technical crew that aired his broadcast, but being young and really needing my job, I answered, “Yes, Sir!”
Our differences ought to keep us humble …
We ought to look at others and say, “They can do things I can’t do!”
For by the grace given me I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment Romans 12:3
Instead we look at our own gifts and say ,”I do things they can’t …”
Perhaps we should remember…
What do you have that you did not receive? And if you did receive it, why do you boast …? 1 Corinthians 4:7
We become proud, and pride keeps us from working together as the body of Christ for His glory…
For just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, so in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others.
We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us. If your gift is prophesying, then prophesy in accordance with your faith; if it is serving, then serve; if it is teaching, then teach; if it is to encourage, then give encouragement; if it is giving, then give generously; if it is to lead, do it diligently; if it is to show mercy, do it cheerfully.
Romans 12 4-7
In each of us God placed unique gifts that reflect a small part of his power and glory.
In each of us God also placed His love…
If only we could remember that love is the greatest gift of all…
And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love. I Corinthians 13:13
If only we could remember that it is love which unites us in all our glorious differences …
Above all, clothe yourselves with love, which binds us all together in perfect harmony. Colossians 3:14
