Draw near to God and He will draw near to you  James 4:8

It is a very busy park…

Round and round and round she runs…

Circling around mama.

Happy and laughing and watching mama to see if mama is watching her.

This busy park could scare a four year old…

But she isn’t scared…

Her eyes are focused on mama.

Round and round she runs…

Staying near Mama.

Then making bigger and bigger circles…

Moving further and further away…

Until she no longer sees Mama.

Until she’s lost in the forest of legs belonging to tall people.

“Mama!” she calls, and holds out her hand, knowing that Mama is there…

Mama sees her, and reaches out…

And draws her close to her heart…

How like our relationship with God…

Round and round and round we run…

Staying near God…

Happy and laughing and watching God to see if He is watching us…

This busy world could scare a frail human…

But we’re not scared.

Our eyes are focused on God…

Round and round we run…

Staying near God…

Then making bigger and bigger circles…

Moving further and further away.

Until we no longer see God…

But your iniquities have made a separation between you and your God   Isaiah 59:2

Until we are lost in the forest of lies belonging to the ruler of this world…

…for he is a liar and the father of lies John 8:44

“God!” we call…

Abba, Father…  Romans 8:15

And hold out our hand, knowing God is there…

For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers,  neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.  Romans 8:38-39

God sees us, and reaches out…

So do not fear, for I am with you;
do not be dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you and help you;
I will uphold you with my righteous right hand  Isaiah 41:10

And draws us close to His heart…

He tends his flock like a shepherd: He gathers the lambs in his arms and carries them close to his heart… Isaiah 40:11
