“Where’s Mama?  Where’s Mama?”

It is an urgent question…

The two-year-old wants to know…

“Mama’s taking a nap.”

“No!  Mama no sleep! “

She is frantic.

“Mama no sleep!”

“Why not?”

“She’s my Mama! My Mama no Sleep.  “

Tears flow…

Mama sleeping is a disaster!

It is Mama who makes order out of chaos…

If Mama is asleep, who knows what tragedy might tear apart her universe?

But Mamas need sleep…

Even Jesus needed sleep when he was here on earth…

In the midst of a storm on the sea, the disciples needed him…

But he was in the stern, asleep on the cushion. And they woke him and said to him, “Teacher, do you not care that we are perishing?” Mark 4:38

Like the disciples, In the middle of our storms we say to him…

“Jesus, don’t you care?”

“I lost my job…”

“My spouse is sick…”

“My marriage is in trouble…”

“Don’t you care, Jesus?”

“Where are you, Jesus?”

To His disciples, Jesus answered…

 …“Why are you so afraid? Do you still have no faith?”  Mark 4:40

Why are we so afraid?

Do we still have no faith?

Do we lack the faith that focuses not on our troubles, but on Jesus Himself?

Have we forgotten that Jesus said…

In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” John 16:33

Do we really believe He has overcome the world?

If we believe…

If we have faith…

Then our two-year-old hearts can rest in the peace of God’s promise…

he who watches over you will not slumber; Psalm 121:3(b)

And we can live as God intended…not in fear of our ever-changing circumstances…

But in the strength of faith…

Faith in our ever-present God…

Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified …for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.” Deuteronomy 31:6
