“I just found a signed check for $5,000 on the floor!” called a volunteer…
“Don’t throw things in the trash before you really look at them.”
It had been a very large conference…
Now it was over…
Rooms that had been filled with thousands of people listening, applauding and singing were empty and almost silent, as volunteers started cleaning up…
In the lobby, another volunteer walked up to the Lost-and-Found booth…
In his hands was a small cardboard box.
“I don’t really want to touch what’s inside” he said, and thrust the box toward the woman running Lost-and-Found…
Carefully, she opened the box…
Her eyes widened and she jumped down from her stool.
Inside was a set of lower dentures.
“The man who lost these was just here.” she said, as she ran across the lobby…
Objects lost. Objects found…
But that’s not all that was lost and found during the conference…
She was listening to a speaker when her cell phone vibrated…
She recognized the caller…
Leaving the room, she answered and heard words that would change her life forever….
She felt lost.
She went back to her seat because she had no place else to go…
Sitting in the middle of a crowd of thousands, she felt alone…
And lost…
The presentation ended.
Had it been five minutes or an hour? She didn’t know…
She sat in her seat quietly crying…
Lost. Alone.
As tears rolled down her face, a stranger approached…
“How can I help?”
She told what she could of the devastating words that had changed her life…
Within minutes, she was surrounded by people offering prayers and help.
In her distress, God had reached out to her through the acts of others…
She was still devastated…
Still fearful about the future…
But as she was surrounded by people sharing God’s love, she knew that God would be with her no matter what she faced…
She was no longer lost…
She was found….
Found and safe in the arms of God…
God… who has said to us…
Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified … for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.” Deuteronomy 31:6
