The cats are missing…
Did they escape out the door?
No, they must be in the house.
They are house cats…
Cats who never run when the door opens…
But I can’t find them.
And experience tells me that when I can’t find them…
They may have done something I won’t like.
So, my search continues…
Hiding in a basket of warm, just dried laundry?
Nope.
In a corner of the kitchen, eating something not exactly meant for cats?
Not this time.
Maybe they’re not hiding…
Maybe I accidentally shut them in a bedroom closet this morning…
Heading up the stairs…
I almost trip over the cats…
Sleeping on the landing.
Why did they pick that spot?
There’s a wall protecting them on one side…
A railing on the other…
They are up high enough to see enemies approaching.
Finding safety and protection …
Cats seem to know they are small…
To instinctively seek protection
Not us humans.
We think we are big enough…
And strong enough…
To protect ourselves.
No need for us to spend time finding safety and protection …
And then something happens…
Something too big for us to stop…
Too powerful for us to control…
Leaving no doubt of our need for protection…
Where will we find protection and safety?
In our own puny strength?
In worldly wealth or power?
Do not love the world or the things in the world. 1 John 2:15
Or will we find safety and protection in God and his power?
Yours, O Lord, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the victory and the majesty, for all that is in the heavens and in the earth is yours. Yours is the kingdom, O Lord, and you are exalted as head above all. 1 Chronicles 29:11
And in His strength…
Seek the Lord and his strength; seek his presence continually! 1 Chronicles 16:11
My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever. Psalm 73:26
I can do all things through him who strengthens me. Philippians 4:13
Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. Isaiah 41:10
Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. Ephesians 6:10
