Christian Devotional-Stories and Bible verses about the presence of God in our lives

First Things First

First things first …

First Things First

In a hurry…

Late…

I start the car…

Put it in reverse…

And back into traffic.

Literally.

I didn’t see the car behind me.

Maybe I should have looked first…

First things first…

Running behind all day…

Grateful when the day finally ends.

Driving home, wishing I’d put first things first that morning…

A bible verse comes to mind…

A verse about putting first things first …

But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness,  Matthew 6:33

Seek first the Kingdom of God?

How do you put God first?

Could it be by putting first His attributes?

…compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Colossians 3:12

By putting first His forgiveness?

…forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. Colossians 3:13

By putting love first?

And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.  Colossians 3:14

Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.   1 John 4:8

Perhaps only when we put love first, can truly put God first…

First before worry…

Therefore do not be anxious, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the Gentiles seek after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them all. Matthew 6:31-32

First before greed…

“No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and money.  Matthew 6:24

First before all the things of the world…

For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit set their minds on the things of the Spirit. Romans 8:5

First things first …

And what is the first thing?

Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’  Mark 12:30
