And he said to them, “Follow me… Matthew 4:19
We followed him up the steps as he said, “Let me show you what I’m building in the attic…”
He was building … with his own hands…
…a gigantic master suite with a walk-in closet bigger than most bedrooms.
His house was a ranch style house…
He’d been changing it… one room at a time… since he moved in forty years ago…
It started when he looked out the back of the house one day, and thought, “A deck would look nice…”
So he built it.
A few years later, he built a four-season porch connected to the kitchen by a door.
“Wouldn’t it be great,” he asked his wife a little while later, “if the kitchen were open to the porch?”
She left to run errands.
When she came back, he’d torn down most of the wall separating the rooms.
He built his house one room at a time…
One idea at time…
One step at a time…
“When I started building forty years ago,” he said, “I had no idea how the whole house would turn out.”
One step at a time…
Are we willing to follow Jesus one step at a time?
That’s what the disciples literally did…
They followed his physical footsteps, one at a time…
And he said to them, “Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.” Immediately they left their nets and followed him ~ Matthew 4:19-20
The disciples followed Him…
Even though they didn’t know about Calvary…
Even though they didn’t know about an empty tomb.
They simply heard his words and followed him…
One step at a time…
Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path. Psalm 119:105
They followed a word that illuminated their next step, not their final destination…
Do we have that much faith?
Do we have the faith to follow Jesus one step at a time?
Will we follow Jesus wherever He goes, knowing that it is God who leads the way?
“The Lord directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives. Though they stumble, they will never fall, for the Lord holds them by the hand.” Psalm 37:23-24

‘Your words is a lamp at my feet a light on my path’…this is one of my favourites as it is such a beautiful phrase. It gives me hope and the words alone has drawn me to study the great book of his teachings. I would like to study the Bible more deeply. For me your blog is a perfect place to start. Thank you for a great blog. Keep posting and keep writing.
God bless
Sandra
Thank you so much for reading the blog and for your kind words. The verse you reference is a great verse. A similar verse that means a lot to me is Romans 10:17…”So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.”
