…tell to the coming generation the glorious deeds of the Lord, and his might, and the wonders that he has done. Psalm 78:4
I wanted to show you the fingerprints on this counter…
But I’ve already wiped them away…
They were handprints, really…
Handprints from our two-year-old grandson…
They were a great reminder he had been here…
But I couldn’t leave them.
I had to clean them up right away…
Our house is for sale…
And the Realtor says to make it look perfect…
Vacuum the carpets till there are no footprints…
Clean the tables and counters till there are no fingerprints…
Clean the whole house till there are no signs anyone lives here.
Make it easy for buyers to imagine their lives being lived within these walls…
Make the house clean…
Make the house empty.
Is that the life we imagine for ourselves?
A life with no fingerprints?
No footprints?
No dust?
No dirt?
A life that leaves no sign we were ever here?
Is that the life God plans for us?
For I know the plans I have for you…” declares the Lord… Jeremiah 29:11
Or does He plan a life that leaves…
Handprints…
Fingerprints…
Dusty footprints.
A life of action…
Little children, let us not love in word or talk but in deed… 1 John 3:18
A life reminding others not of our weak efforts…
But of His strong power…
But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” 2 Corinthians 12:9
God loves fingerprints …
So go ahead…
Get your hands dirty.
Leave fingerprints…
Fingerprints reminding the world of His love…
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16
Reminding the world of His call to action…
But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. James 1:22
