She was about 11 when she told us she hated us…
Loudly.
Firmly.
We knew our daughter didn’t mean it.
But some days life leads us all to ask…
Does anybody love us?
Our friends?
Or our parents?
Our spouse?
Our children?
Or our siblings?
And if they love us…
Will they love us always?
Every day?
No matter how we act?
No matter what we say about them?
Or no matter how we treat them?
Will they love us…
Even when we say we don’t love them?
If they did, that would be unconditional love.
Which is the only true love.
And it is the love we need.
Because we are flawed people…
People who cannot earn the love we require…
So who gives us unconditional love?
Only God.
How do we know?
Because He tells us so…
