The day after Christmas…
There’s nothing to do…
No Christmas shopping to finish…
No family dinner to cook…
No Christmas parties to attend…
All the man-made hurry is gone.
What remains?
God’s love remains…
God’s love is simple.
He loves us. No matter what.
No matter what we have thought or done…
…God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:8
God simply loves us…
And that’s more than enough.
More than we deserve …
More than we can imagine.
A love so simple, so direct, so immense, we can’t comprehend it…
The God who made the firmament,
Who made the deepest sea,
The God who put the stars in place
Is the God who cares for me.-Berg
We try to complicate it.
We add rules and exceptions where none exist…
For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8:38-39
God’s love is so complete, so enormous, and so simple, we will never understand it.
Maybe we shouldn’t even try.
Maybe we should just believe…
Believe in the gift of God’s love through Jesus…
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16
And believing in His love, follow his command to share it…
“A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.” John 13:34
Where will we find the strength for that kind of love?
From God Himself…
The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.” Deuteronomy 31:8
