And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up. Galatians 6:9
Ever had a good deed punished?
Me too.
Consider the story of…
The rock that ate my car…
Can you see its evil face?
Its beak ready to chomp my unsuspecting car?
Its satisfied smile as it contemplates another car meeting its fate…
I can hear you saying….
“But Bob, how can you be so stupid to drive into a rock?”
After all, despite that cliché about rolling stones gathering no moss, this stone is stationary.
I didn’t have to swerve to miss it as it veered toward me…
It wasn’t driving the wrong way on a one way street…
It was just sitting there…
Waiting for me…
As I tried to do a good deed…
Scouting out a splash park near our house for my grand kids.
I backed into the parking spot next to the rock…
Putting it on the right side of my car… in a complete blind spot.
To exit the lot, I needed to make a sharp right turn into a narrow driveway.
Let’s just say my turn was a little too sharp.
The car suddenly filled with a loud crunching, screeching sound…
I was hitting something…
In a place where my brain told me there was nothing but open space.
Silly brain.
What’s the cliche? ”No good deed goes unpunished”?
“It’s not fair!” my brain shouted.
Here I am just doing a good deed …
Just trying to be a good grandpa…
And this is what I get in return for my good deed ?
“Bad things,” I think, “shouldn’t happen when I do a good deed.”
A Bible verse comes to mind…
…In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” John 16:33
OK, God. Got it.
But, I’m not ever coming back to this troublesome part of the world…
I won’t bring my grand kids…
I’ll never forget what happened here…
Then I think of another verse…
“Remember not the former things, nor consider the things of old. Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert. Isaiah 43:18-19
Well, God, when you put it that way…
Maybe I’m looking in the wrong place for the reward for my good deed…
Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven Matthew 5:12
We brought the kids to the park…
My wife drove…
She parked a long way from the rock.

You won’t be offended if I laugh at your post today????
Go right ahead! A little laughter is always a good thing!
Being in Father by Son that is risen to tkae over the willing believer, gets stuff happen to them as well as those that are unbelievers
Thought
The Rain rains on everyone believer or not, bad things happen to everyone whether believe or not. The rain does not have a list to who has been naughty or nice, whether one believes and another does not, and get special treatment for doing or not doing things this society teaches one must or else God will get you as if a tyrant and we are puppets, having no free choice
If one does not then God lied in giving free choice to Adam and Eve then and all is a hoax
Left up to us all today to choose to believe is or is not a Hoax, and God is real, does just love us all, revealed in Son’s resurrection to stand in, even in the face of troubles here on earth
I am standing in not ever cursing God in any troubles, and you yuor choice too
Job did not, Abraham did not and many a Patriarchs did not also
Then came the Chosen one, Jesus who went all the way to death willingly for us to get new life in his risen life, risen by Father for us to have this as well today in the present given us Son leading in Father’s Spirit and truth forever
Thanks Bob to say, able to today in Faith, no doubting no denying God at all
Galatians 2:20-21Authorized (King James) Version (AKJV)
20 I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me. 21 I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain.
