Ecclesiastes 4:9-12
Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their toil. For if they fall, one will lift up his fellow. But woe to him who is alone when he falls and has not another to lift him up! Again, if two lie together, they keep warm, but how can one keep warm alone? And though a man might prevail against one who is alone, two will withstand him—a threefold cord is not quickly broken.

John 15:12-14
“This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends. You are my friends if you do what I command you.
That verse ends with IF, you do what I command you, Christ speaking per the Disciples writings, per the translation from Greek to English by man’ trying to see the truth.
Back to Greek for a minute or two, In the Greek there are three different translations to this word of IF
There is also since, to be translated. Do not remember the other translation
Yet, I get that IF translated many places all over the New Testament, translated from Greek, could really be meant to have said SINCE
So the word IF involves doubt, and doubt started this whole mess here on Earth,. when Adam doubted after he saw Eve eat and not die as he thought would be, she did not so he ate also and saw truth he messed up and death has come to all mankind
Doubt, when one doubts, God does not continue in establishing us, or will not. Why?
Because he gave us free choice to choose, has been committed to saving us all ever since, Not IF, ever since this happened, that he foresaw would happen, and gave Adam and Eve that first prediction to salvation for all
Genesis 3:15.
So in Mercy and Truth of his Love, he gives this to us to have hold, honor, and cherish in belief to he does just love us.
So IF is out to me, since Father gives us new life to stand in and abide in. He keeps us in it, after he knows we will not quit belief to his love for us in the risen Son as Lord unto his Lord, his Father now our Father in those that will not stop belief to see this love that gets imputed in us as was done in Abraham
Romans 4:17-25, Father gives us 1 Cor 13:4-7
Might seek to find out what is God’s love to us first? For in 1 John 4:18-19 we get told that these disciples can not love in truth without God’s love first.
Demonstrated to us all by Jesus the Son of the living God. Known as Father for the first time ever in the Bible.
God had many names, in that first Testament, now one name Father.
Jesus is risen after his death gave forgiveness to all, not a few, to all, yet death to get this is death, not new life. New life is hidden in the risen Christ, revealed to us from Father of the risen Son, those that will not quit belief, even through adversities
Howard, thank you for regularly commenting.
You add many interesting, thought provoking ideas. I notice lately that you have referred to “Father” as the one name for God. Certainly, God is Father. Jesus told us to pray, “Our Father….” (Using a word for father that literally translates as “Daddy”-What an intimate relationship!) The apostles affirm that anyone who believes in Christ, earns the right to be called a child of God.
Yet for me, the intimate fatherhood of God is made all the more precious when considered against the backdrop of the meaning of His many names… each one meant to capture one aspect of a God who is beyond our comprehension.
Consider…
Elohim: the one true God, who created the heavens and earth. That God is the one I can call Father?
Yahweh: The LORD- the God who said to Moses “I AM…” I can call the God who is and was and always will be, “Daddy”?
Yahweh Yireh – The lord who knows and provides for all our needs
There are many other names of God that point to His majesty and power and love and compassion.
Perhaps you can say that the term “Father” encapsulates all those characteristics of God and in that way becomes the only name of God.
Yet for me, the earthly use of the term Father falls so far short of the nature of God, that I find it helpful to consider his many names, which portray His nature and power and love, which we will never truly understand in this life…
Isaiah 55:8-9 (NIV)
8 “For my thoughts are not your thoughts,
neither are your ways my ways,”
declares the LORD.
9 “As the heavens are higher than the earth,
so are my ways higher than your ways
and my thoughts than your thoughts.
Thank you for this Brother Bob. Love it in truth and Spirit
