A tent for Christmas…
Our granddaughter got a tent for Christmas.
Sorry the picture is a little blurry…
she was so excited she couldn’t stop running in and out of the tent…
At first.
Soon she spent more and more time inside the tent…
She hid her favorite things in the tent…
Her favorite books…
Her favorite dolls.
Parents and grandparents were not allowed inside.
The tent became her hiding place…
“My tent!” she cried.
“No adults!”
“My life!” we cry.
“Sorry God, you are not allowed inside.”
We hide from God….
We convince ourselves He can’t see us…
Can a man hide himself in hiding places So I do not see him?” declares the LORD “Do I not fill the heavens and the earth?” declares the LORD. Genesis 3:8
“For My eyes are on all their ways; they are not hidden from My face, nor is their iniquity concealed from My eyes. 1 Chronicles 21:20
Why do we hide?
Like Adam and Eve…
We try to hide our sin.
Hiding from God…turning our back on Him…
What’s the only possible result? Trouble.
What do we do when we end up in trouble?
We turn again to God…
Then they cried to the LORD in their trouble… Psalm 107:28
How does God respond?
Even though we have hidden from Him?
…he delivered them from their distress. He made the storm be still, and the waves of the sea were hushed. Then they were glad that the waters were quiet, and he brought them to their desired haven. Psalm 107:28-30
I see his love and mercy and grace and I am grateful…
Yet I wonder…
How much better would it be if we simply chose to hide in God… instead of hiding from him?
You are my hiding place; You preserve me from trouble; You surround me with songs of deliverance. Psalm 32:7
