Appreciate these verses on JOY. But to me there’s a difference between happiness and joy. Happiness is a result of something that happens. Joy is a result of God’s Spirit that resides within the believer. God’s joy abides within us to keep us above difficult circumstances.
You make an excellent point. We use “happiness” so often to refer to circumstances working out the way we hope, or to getting what we want, that we cheapen the word and the concept. Wonder what the world would be like if we could redefine “happiness” as recognizing and living in the power of the spirit? Thanks for your comment
