I am about to reveal what is hidden in this drawer…
It isn’t pretty…
I am embarrassed to reveal its contents…
Please promise not to tell anyone what is in this drawer….
Once you see its contents, erase all memory of it …
Otherwise, your psyche will suffer great damage…
It is our family’s “power drawer”…
We started by storing the power chargers for our cell phones…
Easy.
I had a phone.
My wife had a phone.
Two chargers.
Then we got new phones, but we didn’t’ throw out the old chargers…
I got an IPad…
One more charger.
My wife got an IPad…
Still another charger.
I needed two flashlight batteries … but they only came in packs of four…
Where to put the extras?
In the power drawer of course!
One day I dropped a pair of scissors into the drawer…
Somebody added a couple of pens…
One decision at a time, our power drawer morphed into a junk drawer….
And lost its power.
See for yourself…
Could my soul be just like that drawer?
Have I robbed it of its power by cluttering it one decision at a time with junk that don’t matter?
I need to clean the junk out of my soul!
But where to start?
…put off falsehood and speak truthfully to your neighbor…
“In your anger do not sin”:
Anyone who has been stealing must steal no longer, but must work…
Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths…
Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice.

Is throwing away the junk enough?
Empty junk drawers and empty souls always get refilled…
Always…
Often with the same type of junk we just threw away.
With what should we fill them the junk is gone?
… compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.
Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.
And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity. Colossians 3:12-14
