Learning about God …

I wanted to spend the day at the beach learning about God …

But He wouldn’t let me.

I brought a book with me…

A book by a famous Christian author and speaker…

“A perfect time for learning about God,” I thought.

I reached for the book…

Opened it…

The wind rustled the pages…

I looked up at the sky and saw the wind in the clouds…

Heard it in the waves at the shore…

A seagull called and my eyes followed the sound…

Putting down the book, I walked to the water’s edge…

And stood there watching the waves crash ashore…

The view…

The sounds…

Filled my brain until there was no room for words from a book.

Time stopped.

I watched as waves marched ashore one after another…

Finally I stood and climbed the steps to the top of a dune…

And stopped.

stunned at the view….

Of the sky and the clouds above…

Of the water and the people below.

Who but God could create such beauty?

I had planned to learn about God from a book that day.

But God said no.

God had other plans.

“Spend the day with Me,” He said.

“Quiet your mind.”

“…Be still, and know that I am God…” Psalm 46:10

“See the beauty of My creation through My eyes.”

…The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky above proclaims his handiwork. Psalm 19:1

So I left the book for another day.

And spent the day learning about God …

About His grace and His love and His power and His majesty…
