But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience… Galatians 5:22
“Church will be crowded…”
Better get there early,” Sarah thinks…
She dresses her baby and toddler…
The toddler squirms.
The Baby cries.
Patience…
“I’m Picking up Edna Today,” she tells her husband…
Edna is an older woman who can’t drive to church…
“You take the kids.”
“I’ll meet you there.”
“Good morning!” says her passenger, as she gets into the car with a large bouquet of flowers.
“I’m taking these for a friend,” she explains.
Later, as the service ends…Sarah turns to her husband…
“I’ll drive Edna home,” she says…
“You take the kids and go to your parents’ house for Easter dinner. I’ll be there soon.”
“Mama, I want to go with you!” shouts the three year old.
Patience…
Sarah and her three year old search the crowd for Edna.
“Maybe she went back to the car…”
But Edna isn’t at the car.
Sarah pulls the car up to the church door.
There’s Edna…
Flowers still in hand.
“My friend didn’t come to church today,” she explains.
“Can you drive me to her house so I can drop off the flowers?”
Patience…
Flowers dropped off, Sarah drives to Edna’s house.
As they turn into the driveway…
Edna fumbles in her purse…
“Oh dear. I don’t have my keys.”
Patience…
“The neighbors have a spare set.”
Edna disappears around the corner.
Five minutes pass.
Sarah gets out of the car…
And finds Edna…
Standing silently on her neighbor’s front porch.
“I don’t want to bother them in case they aren’t awake yet,” she says.
Patience…
Sarah rings the doorbell…
The neighbors give Edna her spare key.
As Mama gets back in the car, her phone rings…
“Are you OK? You’re about 40 minutes late!”
“Patience,” Mama replies…
And turns toward home and toward Easter…
Easter…
With its call for enduring patience…
Be patient, then, brothers and sisters, until the Lord’s coming…James 5:7
And its reward for patience endured…
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16

Do we ever really learn patience here on earth? God has softened me with His patience over the years. Now I view interruptions in my day as opportunities for God to shine through and work in me!
What a great way to look at interruptions!
What helps me most to be patient is to remember that there is a plan.
It’s all about Faith in God and His plan, isn’t it?
In fact… that will be part of the theme for tomorrow’s post. I never mean to write two or three posts in a row with similar themes…it just seems to work out that way.
