The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it. John 1:5
It is a dark and stormy day…
(Isn’t that the way all stories are supposed to start?)
But it truly is a dark and stormy day where I live…
In the distance thunder rumbles…
Rain falls steadily…
Leaves that looked so bright in yesterday’s sun fade into today’s gloom…
Without the light of the sun…
It is truly a dark and gloomy day…
The sun, it turns out…
Is a bit unreliable…
How unlike the light of God …
…God is light, and in him is no darkness at all. 1 John 1:5
For God is…
…the Father of lights with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change. James 1:17
God fills our very souls with His light…
For at one time you were darkness, but now you are light in the Lord… Ephesians 5:8
And calls us to share His light with the world…
… let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven. Matthew 5:16
Until one day we will live with Him…
Live in a world made new…
A world gleaming with the light of God …
And the city has no need of sun or moon to shine on it, for the glory of God gives it light, and its lamp is the Lamb. By its light will the nations walk, and the kings of the earth will bring their glory into it, and its gates will never be shut by day—and there will be no night there. Revelation 21:23-25
The sun will no more be your light by day, nor will the brightness of the moon shine on you, for the Lord will be your everlasting light, and your God will be your glory. Your sun will never set again, and your moon will wane no more; the Lord will be your everlasting light, and your days of sorrow will end. Isaiah 60:19-20
