A day at the beach…
An occasional white cloud drifts in a pure blue sky…
Water stretches to the horizon…
Waves break gently, one after another …
The wind blows inland, bringing with it a damp feel and a watery smell that hints at things unseen…
A little bit like Heaven?
Calming…peaceful…
But not quiet!
A crowded beach…
People everywhere…
Kids filling buckets with sand…
Running and splashing in the water…
Calling out to their friends and parents…
Parents putting up sun umbrellas and calling after their children…
There’s very little hidden at the beach…
All that fashion advice about dressing to minimize your “faults” goes away when you are dressed in a bathing suit…
Nobody’s wearing power suits…
Very few have tried to dress to impress…
People see the “real you”…
The young boy with the young boy’s face and body waiting to grow into the tall man his long legs promise…
Somebody’s grandpa who would probably not be described as slender…
On the beach we see who exercises in the gym…
And who builds up “muscles” at the dinner table…
We see each other for what we really are…
Just as God sees us.
And nobody seems to care…
A day at the beach…maybe a little bit like heaven?
but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:8
