“Margin!” she said…
“Do you remember,” she asked the group of volunteers…
“The paper you wrote on in elementary school?”
“With wide lines and a big red margin on each side?”
“What did your teacher tell you about the margins?”
“Never write in the margins!”
“Because if you filled the entire paper from side to side… there was no room for the teacher to leave notes and instructions.”
“We will be very busy at this event,” she said.
“But we will be calm, and serene welcoming to our guests… “
“Because we will leave margin in our lives those days… “
“Margin for God.”
Driving home, I thought about her analogy…
Is it hard for us to see God because we don’t leave margin in our lives for Him?
…put God’s kingdom first. Do what he wants you to do. Then all those things will also be given to you. Matthew 6:33
Have we filled the pages of our lives from edge to edge with our own thoughts and actions and desires?
Have we left no margin for God ?
The all-powerful God… who waits for us to open the door to him?
Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in… Revelation 3:20
If only we will leave margin for God…
Margin to see Him…
Margin to hear Him when He knocks…
To open the door to Him…
Then God will move from the margin of our life to its very center…
And we will love Him with our whole being…
Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul. Love him with all your mind and with all your strength.’ Mark 12:30
Then perhaps I will be said of us, as it was of David…
…the Lord has sought out a man after his own heart…1 Samuel 13:14
But it all starts with leaving margin for God…
He says, “Be still, and know that I am God; Psalm 46:10
