… God is love, and whoever abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him. 1 John 4:16
Just married…
And I wanted to be the perfect husband…
So when my wife said, “Carry me across the threshold”, I complied…
The problem is that unlike the famous actors you may have seen carrying their bride across the movie threshold… I am not 6-foot-four.
And I don’t go to the gym and bench press every day…
So let’s just say it wasn’t exactly a pretty sight when I carried my wife across the threshold…
A few neighbors may have snickered as they watched the spectacle..
My wife learned very earlythat she would have to endure many things during our marriage…
Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things 1 Corinthians 13:7
I have not been the perfect soulmate.
There are times when I have been short tempered…
Times when I have blamed her for things I have done…
Where are my keys?”
“Who used them last?”
“Oh.”
Times when I have focused more on work than on my family
“I’ll be traveling all this week and next, but the week after that I’ll be home late Wednesday night.”
My wife found out early that I was not the perfect soulmate, but she loved me anyway…
We all want someone to love us…
We all want a perfect soulmate
We disappoint each other so often in our search…
Our disappointment blinds us…
Blinds us to the One who stands waiting for us…
“The LORD waits for you to come to him so he can show you his love and compassion…” Isaiah 30:18
To the One who has already given us His love…
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16
Who gives us His love to share with Him and with others…
Jesus replied, “‘You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.’ Matthew 22:37
