“Mama, Mama!”
“Can we go on the Merry-Go-Round?”
“Please, Mama!”
“Please, Mama!”
“Yes, we can go!”
I am in the mall…
Listening to music from my phone.
Over the music and through the earphones…
I hear the cries…
From the kids and the mother…
“Please, Mama…”
“Please, Mama…”
“If you ask me one more time, we’re not going!”
I’ve been that kid.
I’ve been that parent.
Said those exact words.
As the parent…
I just wanted the kid to be quiet!
To stop asking…
To stop pestering me…
I grew tired of the questions…
Weary of the constant cries
Does God ever feel that way?
Does He grow weary of our prayers?
Tired of our constant cries for His strength?
Have you not known? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He does not faint or grow weary; his understanding is unsearchable. He gives power to the faint, and to him who has no might he increases strength. Isaiah 40:28-29
What does the Bible say about how often we should pray?
Seek the Lord and His strength; seek His face continually. 1 Chronicles 16:11
Really?
Continually?
All the time?
pray without ceasing … 1 Thessalonians 5:17
Even when I need help, but God doesn’t seem to answer?
…Be patient in time of trouble and never stop praying. Romans 12:12
Even when worry consumes me?
Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. Philippians 4:6
Even when I don’t know what to pray?
Pray then like this:
“Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name.
Your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our debts,
as we also have forgiven our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil. Matthew 6:9-13
pray without ceasing … 1 Thessalonians 5:17
