God, Get Rid of My Problems!

It was her fault…

She was not a good enough Christian…

“If you follow Christ”, said her friend…

“Your problems will go away…”

“Problems are a sign you are not following Christ closely enough.”

But Jesus said…

In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”  John 16:33

Does God say that His followers will not face problems?

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, Psalm 23:4

Or does He say that we should not fear problems?

I will fear no evil; Psalm 23:4

Does God promise to get rid of all of our enemies or to be with us when we face them?

You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; Psalm 23:6

“My presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.” Exodus 33:14

How do we put problems behind us and stand in His presence?

…in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. Philippians 4:6

We live in a real world where we have real needs.  Does God care?

When Elijah was at the end of his emotional and physical strength…

All at once an angel touched him and said, “Get up and eat.” ⁶ He looked around, and there by his head was some bread baked over hot coals, and a jar of water. He ate and drank and then lay down again. 1 Kings 18:5-6

Where do we turn for strength to face our problems ?

Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”  Mathew 11:28-30
