A large truck sped by, shaking the ground beneath the car…
Where could he turn?

Standing on the promises of Christ my Savior;

I’m standing on the promises of God.
They had been in school when they married…
They were the first of all their friends to marry…
“It’s true love!” everyone told them.
He believed it…
She believed it…
They believed their promises to be together forever…
Whose promises could he believe now?
Standing on the promises that cannot fail
Who could he trust in the midst of his pain and confusion?
When the howling storms of doubt and fear assail,
by the living Word of God I shall prevail,
standing on the promises of God.
He needed God…
Nobody in this world kept their promises…
Was God any different?

What about all the times he had been unfaithful to God?
If we are faithless, he remains faithful— for he cannot deny himself. 2 Timothy 2:13
He needed to know…
Was God with him now?
