Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen. Hebrews 11:1
Here is where they lost all hope…
On these railroad tracks…
In the middle of nowhere.
Four teenagers…
Cowering in their stalled van…
Then daring to walk miles from this deserted spot…
Pursued by a dangerous killer.
Did I mention they were just characters in a movie?
A movie filmed on a road only a few hundred feet from the nearest house?
A road I drive every day…
A road I think of as a road of hope…
Because as winter changes to spring, tiny buds will appear on the trees over the road.
After the long, cold, snowy winter…
Spring is a season of hope.
A season of resurrection.
Then comes summer…
A season of hope fulfilled.
Leaves large and green, rustling in the wind and dappling the sun as it warms the ground.
Summer… so perfect it’s hard to look ahead to what is coming next…
Followed by fall…
A season of hope for what will be again.
The trees protesting in brilliant color…
As the season prepares to prune their leaves…
Making room for new growth.
Then Winter…
A season of quiet and rest…
A time for gathering of strength…
A season of hope and anticipation for the spring that is to come…
As resurrection people, we have faith in what comes next…
“And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.” Revelation 21:4
Faith even on the bleakest days of winter, when the new life of spring is too far away to be seen…
Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen. Hebrews 11:1
For us every season of the year is a season of hope.
Every season of life is a season of hope.
For though we may not know what is coming next…
We wait in faith and hope…
For we know Who is coming next…
Christ…will appear a second time… to save those who are eagerly waiting for him. Hebrews 9:28
