“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find;” Matthew 7:7
Out of the corner of my eye, I see our cat…
Standing in her “pet me” spot.
When she wants to be petted…
She heads to that one special place…
And stands there until one of us starts to walk toward her…
Then, overcome with anticipation, she starts shaking from had to toe.
I had petted her just a moment ago….
But if she is in her special spot, I will walk over and pet her again…
Does God notice when we look for Him?
“The Lord looks down from heaven on all mankind to see if there are any who understand, any who seek God” Psalm 14:2
Does He look only when, like my cat, we go to a special spot?
Maybe church?
Or will He bless us wherever we are?
“God has yet to bless anyone except where they actually are…” Dallas Willard
Should we wait until everything in our lives is perfect before we seek God ?
“… if we faithlessly discard situation after situation, moment after moment, as not being “right”, we will simply have no place to receive his kingdom into our life.” Dallas Willard
If seeking God is not a matter of being in the right place, at the right time…
or having everything just right in our lives…
Could seeking God be about having the right priorities?
Could it be about putting God first, no matter what we face?
But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Matthew 6:33
If we seek Him, will we find Him?
“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened. Matthew 7:7-8

I used to be in this same trap… thinking that I needed the right place, the right time and right atmosphere to pray. I learned that I needed to pray the most when the place, the time and the atmosphere wasn’t right. You have to love God’s logic which is always to draw us closer to him!
How true!
