Soul for sale …
For what does it profit a man to gain the whole world and forfeit his soul? Mark 8:36
“You can’t live your real life,” she says…
“Not If your house is for sale…”
“We’re selling our house,” my wife had told her hair stylist.
“Uh Oh!” she answered.
I just sold my house. Let me warn you…”
“You can’t live your real life if your house is for sale.”
“You can’t cook before a showing because you don’t want food odors in the house…”
“Your kids can’t play with their toys because the house has to be picked up.”
“Your carpets have to look like nobody ever walked on them…”
My wife’s hair stylist is right.
You can’t live your real life if your house is for sale
As soon as you list your house…
Others take control…
The stagers…
The realtors…
Suddenly you live in a pretend house…
Where the dishes are never dirty…
Everybody picks up after themselves…
Every bed is made…
And not a speck of dust exists. Ever.
Houses aren’t the only things we decide to sell…
Maybe they aren’t even the most important things we sell…
Sometimes we want the things of the world so badly we decide to sell our souls to get them.
As soon as we decide to offer our soul for sale …
Others take control…
And we live in pretend souls…
Where everything is perfect…
And not a speck of sin exists. Ever.
Our pretend souls worship pretend Gods…
Crying out to them for comfort and rest…
Forgetting God alone offers true rest…
Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. Matthew 11:28-29
True comfort…
“I, I am he who comforts you; Isaiah 51:12
True Joy. True peace. True Hope…
May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope. Romans 15:13
Maybe we forget that the only way to find the peace, the joy, the comfort, the hope of God…
Is to seek Him with our soul. Our real soul… Our whole soul…
Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ Mark 12:30
