He practically skipped down the hallway…
He was the owner of the company, a man who put personal dignity above all things.
Few had ever seen him smile.
No one had seen him practically skipping in the hallway…
“I just agreed to speak at a convention for free ”, he explained.
Free? He did not believe in doing anything for free.
“All I asked for was airfare for my wife and me. I didn’t tell them I’d just be ending a European vacation and airfare would be first class home from Italy! I’ll save thousands of dollars!”
His decision did not lead the local news that night.
No politicians were asked to comment on his actions.
He did not change the course of history.
He made the kind of everyday, ordinary decision we all make…
Decisions in which we decide whether it is God we will serve…
No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.” Luke 16:13
Decisions in which God asks us to declare by our actions who and what we really love…
Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. John 2:15
Decisions in which God asks us to trust Him and promises He will stand with us…
Moses answered the people, “Do not be afraid. Stand firm and you will see the deliverance the Lord will bring you today. Exodus 14:13
Where will God ask you to stand firm with Him today?
For most of us it will be in a seemingly small choice, but are there really any small choices?
…our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Ephesians 6:12
…Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in the faith…1 Peter 5:8-9
We are players in a cosmic drama, one in which the author lets us write our role and choose our destiny.
When God asks us to stand firm with Him today, will we have the faith to say yes?
Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong. 1 cor 16:13
