The bravest member of our family…
Also, the youngest…
At two, he slides down the tallest slides…
Swings on the big-kid swings,,,
And dashes into the next moment unafraid…
But not today….
Today, he missed his nap…
He’s tired…
Fatigued…
His body is worn out…
His faith in himself worn thin.
So there he stays…
His feet just inches from the floor…
Crying, “Mama! Mama, I stuck!”
Today he has lost his bravery …
Today He has lost his faith in himself…
But not his faith in Mama.
“Mama!” He calls…
“Mama! Help!”
How often we are like him…
Defeated by an everyday task…
Defeated by fatigue…
Defeated by fear of enemies real and imagined…
Forgetting God says…
Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.” Deuteronomy 31:6
Defeated by the realization of our own miniscule power…
Forgetting that real power comes from not from ourselves, but from God…
He gives power to the faint, and to him who has no might he increases strength. Isaiah 40:29
Power to finish whatever He asks us to begin…
I can do all things through him who strengthens me. Philippians 4:13
Forgetting that all God asks is that we take a step of faith …
What is that step of faith?
The step of faith that gladdens the heart of God?
Could it be when we acknowledge our own weakness and cry out to Him?
Cry out to Him in faith that He hears us?
And this is the confidence that we have toward him, that if we ask anything according to his will he hears us. 1 John 5:14
Cry out to Him in faith that He is a good God…
Whose plans for us are always good…
For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. Jeremiah 29:11
