I am Waiting …

Time moves so slowly…

I can’t leave the house…

It is a nice day… A summer day…

I want to be outside…

But I can’t leave the house …

I can’t leave because I am waiting for a repair man…

We have a problem in our house…

Our cats discovered the problem first…

Last night they both suddenly looked in the same direction at the same time…

Then they raced in unison to our living room and stood there frozen–staring at one spot on the floor…

Over the years, we have learned to pay attention when our cats turn into pointer cats…

There was, for example, the time we found them staring at a line of ants that had somehow made its way into our kitchen and was heading single file toward a cookie crumb on the floor…

No ants this time…

There was a small but growing pool of water on the floor…

It fell one drip at a time from the ceiling…

What’s above the ceiling? My wife’s shower…

So today I cannot leave the house. I am waiting for a repair man…

When will he show up?

“As soon as I finish my early morning job…”

“Late morning… early afternoon… no later than mid-afternoon.”

I don’t really know when he will show up…

“But about that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. Mathew 24:36

In the meantime, I am waiting …

But they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint. Isaiah 40:31

What should I do while I am waiting?

Therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, put on tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, longsuffering; Colossians 3:12

Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’… ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’  Mark 12:30-31

And yet we long for the moment He arrives…

Do return, O LORD; how long will it be? And be sorry for Your servants. Psalm 90:13

And he answers…
