Too Old or Too Young to Serve God?

“There is only one way to be happy when you are older” she said, and paused…

Too old? Too Young? Too Busy?She picked up the microphone and looked out at the crowd of people who had come to hear her speak…

“Most of you are young. You cannot imagine being my age. I will give you advice now for that time…

“Here’s the advice.  Simply give up.”

“When you get older, you have no purpose in life…”

No purpose?

Why does God say he created everyone who is called by His name?

whom I created for my glory, whom I formed and made.”  Isaiah 43:7

Is bringing glory to God a purpose that vanishes when we are older?

They still bear fruit in old age; they are ever full of sap and green, Psalm 92:14

Should we stop serving because we have few years left in our life?

With three years to live Christ began a ministry that changed human destiny.

As he neared the end of his life, he said…

“I glorified You on the earth, having accomplished the work which You have given Me to do. John 17:4

How about young people?  Are they too inexperienced to bring glory to God?
Paul said to Timothy…

Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity. 1 Timothy 4:12

It is so easy to suffer from “Too” disease…

To be too old or too young to serve God…

During which phase of our life does God say he will desert us?

When we are young?
When we are old?

He says…

Never will I leave you
Never will I forsake you. Hebrews 13:5

He is our God every day of our lives.

Will we be His servants every day, so we can say with Paul…

I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.  Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day… 2 Timothy 4:7-8
