Christian Devotional-Stories and Bible verses about the presence of God in our lives

Why Should We Trust God

Can we trust God?

Those who trust in themselves are fools…  Proverbs 28:26

The planes fly low…

Trust God

Straining into the air from the nearby airport…

Heading to Dubai and Paris…

To Madrid and Qatar…

To New York and Los Angeles…

And to Kansas City and Cedar Rapids, Iowa….

All the passengers on all the planes know where they are going…

But only the pilot knows the route…

Only the pilot knows the altitude…

Only the pilot knows the speed…

Only the pilot knows the way points…

All the passengers may know where they’re going…

But only the pilot knows how to get them there.

And so there is no debate over who will pilot the plane…

No question of whether to trust the pilot.

Believers know where they are going…

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.  John 3:16

But we forget that only God knows the route we will follow…

For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.  Jeremiah 29:11

We forget that only God offers the strength we need to follow it…

The Lord is my strength…  Exodus 15:2

I can do all things through him who strengthens me.  Philippians 4:13

And so we debate whether we need God to pilot our lives…

Debate whether we can trust God …

Whether we need God at all…

Forgetting God’s warning…

… do not lean on your own understanding…Proverbs 3:5

Forgetting Jesus’ words…

Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me. I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.  John 15:4-5
