Christian Devotional-Stories and Bible verses about the presence of God in our lives

Unchanging God

It’s a time of change where I live…

Temperatures in the 80’s and 90’s have fallen to the 70’s.

The trees hint at still more change to come…

unchanging God trees-red leaves

Peeks of red and yellow in the midst of their summer green.

Walkways accumulate the first sprinkle of leaves…

unchanging God

Only a sprinkle now…

Soon to be a downpour.

Even the trees in the store are changing…

From the kind you plant in the ground…

To the kind you plant inside your house.

unchanging God

Time passes…

Each tick of the clock marks an ending and a beginning.

Everything changes…

Everyone changes…

Everyone changes.  Except God.

“…I the Lord do not change…” Malachi 3:6

God stays the same even when we turn away from him…

if we are faithless, he remains faithful—for he cannot deny himself.  2 Timothy 2:13

The unchanging God …

The God who lives beyond time…

Loves us so much that He inserts Himself into time…

And walks with us…

I will walk among you and be your God, and you will be my people.  Leviticus 26:12

God… for whom time has no meaning…

Knows that we are temporal beings on this earth…

That words like yesterday, today and tomorrow and never…

Have meaning for us.

So the unchanging God …

The One who says, “I Am”…

Also says,  “never”…

“Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.” Hebrews 13:5

All to reassure us…

All to meet us where we are…

All to give us His love…

All to grow our faith…

Our faith in the God who never changes…

The unchanging God who gives us the chance to change every day…

To surrender the old to him…

To become new in faith…

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.  2 Corinthians 5:17

To be with Him.

Forever.

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.  John 3:16
