…think of yourself with sober judgment… Romans 12:3
“I never get what I deserve,” she says…
“This year will be different!”
“I deserve respect…”
“And this year I’m going to get respect!”
“I deserve a thank you…”
“And this year I’m going to get a thank you!”
“I deserve money… “
“And this year, I’m going to get the money I deserve!”
She’s talking about her daughter’s school holiday party…
“Every year I buy all the decorations and all the food…”
“Every year I go to her school early to decorate the room and set out the food…’
“And then somebody else shows up at the last minute with one plate of cookies.’
“Everybody oohs and ahs over them…”
“Well, not this year!’
“I’m going to get what I deserve!”

…Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment… Romans 12:3
But then I think of God and his grace…
Grace unearned…
For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. Ephesians 2:8-9
Grace undeserved…
for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus. Romans 3:23-24
Grace for all…
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. John 3:16-17
