“I’ll play with the cat’s truck and with Daddy’s truck, too!”
Sometimes, it’s tough to see beyond our own desires…
Difficult to put someone else’s wants first.
But perhaps it’s easier when the other person is someone we love…
Someone to whom we have already given our hearts…
For then our hearts align with theirs…
We know their heart’s desire…
And little by little…
Our hearts want the same things…
Perhaps that’s how it is with God…
If we give Him our hearts…
If we spend time with Him…
And if we listen when he speaks…
Perhaps then we will realize that what He wants is the gift the gift of our hearts..
Jesus says…
… “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. Matthew 22:37
But we know our hearts aren’t always what they should be…
The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately sick; who can understand it? Jeremiah 17:9
Does God really want something as messy as our hearts?
God says if we give Him our messy hearts…
…I will give you a new heart, and a new spirit I will put within you. And I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. Ezekiel 36:26
And When He has purified our hearts…
Then….
We will receive the greatest gift of all.
For He says…
“Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God. Matthew 5:8
Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.
Sell your possessions, and give to the needy. Provide yourselves with moneybags that do not grow old, with a treasure in the heavens that does not fail, where no thief approaches and no moth destroys. For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.
