Christian Devotional-Stories and Bible verses about the presence of God in our lives

Where Your Treasure Is

For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also. Luke 12:34

We moved the couch…

where your treasure is

What did we find?

Treasures….

Kitty treasures…

Treasures our cats chased and batted across the floor…

Treasures they pursued as fast as they could…

Treasures they hunted until they grew tired of them…

But don’t worry…

We have more cat toys…

New balls for them to chase…

New toys for them to claw and chew…

New treasures.

My cats aren’t the only ones chasing treasures…

I chase and chase and chase after earthly treasures…

Chase them with all the energy I possess…

Forgetting God has said…

Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal…” Matthew 6:19

Forgetting He has told us what to do with our worldly treasure…

Sell your possessions, and give to the needy…  Luke 12:33

And where to find treasure that really matters…

Provide yourselves with moneybags that do not grow old, with a treasure in the heavens that does not fail, where no thief approaches and no moth destroys.  Luke 12:33

Forgetting that when we spend our lives chasing earthly treasure…

We are spending the treasure of God…

For that is what we are…

The treasure of God.

Treasure he values so highly He died on a cross…

Just to be reunited with us…

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.  John 3:16

Consider…if we are God’s treasure…

Has He not given His heart to us?

…where your treasure is, there will your heart be also. Luke 12:34

And what does He ask in return?

He asks that we treasure him and His kingdom above all else…

But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness;  Matthew 6:33

And Give our hearts to Him…

Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind … Luke 10:27
