Who is she?
Last year on her birthday…
she was Joy from Inside Out…
This year…
She is Princess Poppy.
Sometimes it’s hard to know who she is…
“Hi, Caroline.”
“I am not Caroline.”
“Who are you?”
“I’m Rapunzel. “
“See how fast my hair is growing? “
Oh.
A little later…
“Rapunzel, where are you?”
“I’m Dory now.”
Who will she be in twenty minutes?
Who will she become in twenty years?
Who does God want her to be?
Will she be a wife?
A mother?
An accountant?
A dancer?
A teacher?
A firefighter?
Who will any of us be in an hour…
A day…
A year …
Or a decade?
Who does God want us to be?
God knows the answer…
For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Jeremiah 29:11
He watches us in love…
As we move toward His plan…
And away from it…
Day by day…
Choice by choice.
He sees us when we feel weighed down by the choices we’ve made…
He hears us when we tell ourselves…
“It’s too late for a new beginning.”
Forgetting that He is the ultimate creator of new beginnings…
Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert. Isaiah 43:19
Who does God want us to be?
We search everywhere for the answer…
Pretending to be so many different people…
Hoping one of them is who God wants us to be…
Finding the answer only when we stop searching everywhere…
When we stop pretending we know the answer…
And ask God Himself…
He answered, “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind’; and, ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’” Luke 10:27
