“The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it.” 1 Corinthians 10:26
“Let’s take funny pictures…”
What is my granddaughter talking about?
With all the impatience of a four-year-old child of the digital age…
She reaches for my phone…
Scrolls to the photography folder…
And opens the app that takes “funny pictures” …
“Take my picture!” she says.
And so I do…
Looking at that picture…
I learn that I have not one granddaughter but two…
identical twin granddaughters.
Through the lens of the funny photo app…
I get a whole new perspective on my grandson as well…
And as for me?
Let’s just say this is not how I picture myself…
The pictures prove a point…
How we see the world depends on the perspective from which we look.
Will we look at the world from the world’s perspective?
Will we love the things of the world?
Will we think the world was created for our glory?
Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world—the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride in possessions—is not from the Father but is from the world. And the world is passing away along with its desires, but whoever does the will of God abides forever. 1 John 2:15-17
Or will we look at the world not from the World’s perspective, but from God’s perspective?
And seeing it from God’s perspective…
Will we recognize that it is His creation not ours…
In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Genesis 1:1
Recognize that it is created for His glory alone…
And sing with the angels and all of creation…
“Holy, holy, holy is the Lord Almighty; the whole earth is full of his glory.” Isaiah 6:3
