Christian Devotional-Stories and Bible verses about the presence of God in our lives

Worst Selfies Ever

Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes and clever in their own sight.   Isaiah 5:21

Help me…

Worst selfies ever

I take the worst selfies ever.

This is a picture of my wife…

And almost a picture of me.

My excuse?

I have several excuses, actually.

Here’s my favorite…

“The sun is too bright. I can’t see what’s in the frame.”

Here’s a picture of my grandson…

And almost a picture of me…

Taken inside.

Where I can’t use the bright sun excuse…

Worst selfies ever

Look at the expression on his face…

Can’t you hear him saying…

“Another selfie?  Give the camera to me.”

Time for a new excuse…

Uh…

I can’t think of one.

I’ll just have to admit I take the worst selfies ever.

I can picture my selfies before I take them…

In my mind, the picture is perfectly focused and framed…

I am very handsome…

And 20 years younger.

Then I see the pictures.

You could say my mental selfie is just a little out of focus.

Maybe that’s true for more than the selfies I take on my phone…

In my mind…

My plans are perfect…

Whoever trusts in his own mind is a fool, but he who walks in wisdom will be delivered.  Proverbs 28:26

My intentions pure…

The way of a fool is right in his own eyes… Proverbs 12:15

But God sees me for what and who I really am…

And warns…

… Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought… Romans 12:3

Yet from His love and mercy…

He leaves wise friends to guide me..

Where there is no guidance, a people falls, but in an abundance of counselors there is safety.  Proverbs 11:14

His word to teach me…

All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness… 2 Timothy 3:16

And His grace to save me…

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.  John 3:16
