Christian Devotional-Stories and Bible verses about the presence of God in our lives

Life After Communion

commiunionCommunion ended….

Five words that had seemed ordinary before, jumped into my heart from the bible passages and changed communion forever for me…

But what about the rest of my life?

Had anything changed besides how I viewed communion?

Doubts…

I still had doubts…

After all… who was I?

What could I possibly do for God?

What strengths did I have that God could use?

It felt so humble, so “Christian” thinking that way…

But was I doubting my own strength, or God’s?

“My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.  2 Corinthians 12:9

Still I doubted…Look at all the heroes of the Bible…

They were so talented…

They were so gifted…

They were so perfect…

Or maybe they were just perfect for the task for which God made them….

Consider the following…  (which is posted in so many places on the internet, I am not sure where it originated.)

Noah was a drunk
Abraham was too old
Isaac was a daydreamer
Jacob was a liar
Joseph was abused
Moses had a stuttering problem
Gideon was afraid
Samson was a womanizer
Rahab was a prostitute
Jeremiah and Timothy were too young
David had an affair and was a murderer
Elijah was suicidal
Isaiah preached naked
Jonah ran from God
Naomi was a widow
Job went bankrupt
Peter denied Christ
The Disciples fell asleep while praying
Martha worried about everything
The Samaritan woman was divorced, more than once
Zaccheus was too small
Paul was too religious
Timothy had an ulcer and …

Lazarus was dead!

Still wish God had made you differently?

But by the grace of God I am what I am, and His grace toward me did not prove vain; 1 Corinthians 15:10

Remember…

“God doesn’t call the equipped….

He equips the called.”
