16 Inspiring Bible Verses-Center Our Lives on God …

Plus an everyday story about focus…

Here’s the story…

Something is wrong…

I just planted 2 bushes…

And they look out of place…

The whole planting area looks off balance…

I planted each bush the same distance from the opposite ends of the planting area…

They ought to look balanced…

But they don’t…

Then I remember…

Part of the planting area is hidden by a large fir tree…

Last year…

All the plantings centered on the part you can see.

This year…

I centered the new bushes on the whole area…

Time to dig up the new bushes…

And replant them…

Centered on last year’s measurements…

Will it work?

I step back and look…

Yep!

Having one center of focus works best!

Sometimes my life is like that planting bed…

It’s unbalanced…

Centered-on one idea today…

And on another tomorrow…

If only I would remember what God says about where to center our lives…

But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. Matthew 6:33

How much pointless effort it would spare me…

How much wasted time…

How much worry and pain.

God Loves us all…

And waits for us…

The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance.  2 Peter 3:9

He waits for us to make Him the center of our lives…

Matthew 6:31-33

Therefore do not be anxious, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the Gentiles seek after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them all. But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.

Matthew 22:37

And he said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.

John 15:5

Matthew 6:24

“No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and money.

Matthew 6:19-21

“Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

Colossians 3:1-4

If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth. For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ who is your life appears, then you also will appear with him in glory.

Romans 8:5

For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit set their minds on the things of the Spirit.

James 4:4-8

You adulterous people! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Therefore whoever wishes to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God. Or do you suppose it is to no purpose that the Scripture says, “He yearns jealously over the spirit that he has made to dwell in us”? But he gives more grace. Therefore it says, “God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble.” Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded.

2 Peter 3:9

The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.

Romans 12:1-2

I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.

Exodus 20:3

“You shall have no other gods before me.

Acts 5:29

But Peter and the apostles answered, “We must obey God rather than men.

John 3:16-17

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.

Mark 12:30
