22 Top Bible Verses-Seeing the Promises of God …

When I first took this picture…

I was ready to delete it…

“What an ugly picture,” I thought…

Look at the picture…

It’s not exactly ready for social media, is it?

A social media-ready rainbow would sparkle in a beautiful country setting…

Maybe stretching between two mountains covered in lush greenery…

This picture??

Not so much!

You can only see part of the rainbow…

The part in front of the clouds…

But the rainbow vanishes against the bright blue sky.

And unlike the rainbow of our idyllic social media setting…

This is an urban rainbow…

Hidden behind traffic lights and power lines…

The everyday clutter of our everyday lives.

You can see why I almost deleted the picture…

But then I thought…

Well…that’s where I live…

And God says that He…

And his promises…

Will be with us always…

Everywhere…

In the midst of mountain-top social media moments…

Or on our everyday roads…

Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”  Joshua 1:9

As for the clouds…

God didn’t promise there wouldn’t be clouds…

He didn’t promise there wouldn’t be storms…

In fact…

God said that it would be in the clouds that we would see the rainbow…

I have set my bow in the cloud, and it shall be a sign of the covenant between me and the earth. Genesis 9:13

Maybe that’s why it’s easier to see God’s promises on the cloudy days…

The days when our lives are clouded by doubt…

or by worry…

Or fear.

On those cloudy days…

We can remember what God promised…

That though the clouds and storms and floods may come…

They will never destroy us…

When I bring clouds over the earth and the bow is seen in the clouds, ¹⁵ I will remember my covenant that is between me and you and every living creature of all flesh. And the waters shall never again become a flood to destroy all flesh Genesis 9:14-15

And it is in the midst of the clouds…

That we will see not just the reminder of God’s promises…

But their ultimate fulfillment.

For it is in the clouds that we will see Christ return…

Behold, he is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see him…Revelation 1:7
